Rus Pierogi

While some restaurant owners grow comfortable in a single location, expansion is easier and more accessible than most small business owners realize. Ru’s Pierogi (Buffalo, NY) is run by Andy Ruszczyk, who uses a combination of traditional family recipe and new ideas in order to bring something new to the table (so to speak).

When Andy wanted to expand, he reached out to us with a very achievable goal and enough drive to get him there- all we needed to do was provide him with the vehicle. The vehicle in question?

An Epson C3500 inkjet printer!

As we have mentioned in previous blog posts- the C3500 is an excellent printer for most small-volume applications. It provides a rugged solution through a small form factor with the ability to crank out full-color labels at up to 4 inches per second!

Ru’s plan for progress was simple- They already had a brick-and-mortar establishment and a very successful food truck. They wanted people to be able to enjoy their delicious pierogi from home! This meant that our label needed to contain the following things at a bare minimum:

  • Logo
  • Ingredients
  • Nutrition label
  • Expiration date
  • Allergens

This may seem like a lot to fit on a label that is under 22 square inches, but we here at IPSi are getting very accustomed to making it work.

The primary issue that Ru’s expected to face was the fact that the labels they wanted to print were not only going to be placed on plastic bags but needed to stay on those bags in below freezing temperatures. Our first recommendation for any extreme environments is our polyester label stock. Whether its heat, cold, underwater, or in a microwave, matte polyester retains color and consistency better than any other media.
